Malaysia first train simulator

Prasarana, a public operator in Malaysia, selected our company for the delivery and full setup of a metro train driving simulator.

  • Prasarana: public transport operator in Malaysia
  • 1 Full-Cab Simulator
  • 4 workstations
  • 1 instructor station
  • Observation facilities
  • 1 virtual train
  • 27 kilometres of realistic tracks
  • ADTranz Star

The Malaysian operator requested a state of the art solution to train new and experienced metro drivers for Ampang Line in Kuala Lumpur.

Trainees can practice on one Full-Cab and four workstations which simulate the Ampang Line rolling stock. 27 realistic kilometres of the line have also been modelled in 3D to allow familiarisation with tracks, switches, signalling…

The Full-Cab Simulator is the perfect replica of an ADTranz Star. From doors’ opening to driving, trainees are fully immersed into the metro train environment. The cab even integrates actual instrumentation which reinforces realism. A Fault Finding Station enables troubleshooting procedures outside the cab as well.

Four workstations, which are simplified version of the Full-Cab, have also been supplied. Except for the master controller switch, instrumentation is virtual and operational on a dedicated touch-screen. The workstations offer the possibility to train a higher number of drivers simultaneously.

Students who are not busy with simulation can observe their colleagues thanks to the observer wall. Instructors manage it all from their station and can comment a session in real time, debrief in groups, interact with drivers...

In May 2012, the simulator has been officially inaugurated by the Deputy Human Resource Minister Datuk Maznah Mazlan and registered as the first train simulator in the Malaysian book of records.
