Track creation and edition

Track Edition Tool (TET)

The Track Editor Tool is Transurb’s specialised software for the design, editing, and visualisation of railway networks within simulation environments. Tailored for instructors and training developers, TET provides direct control over every element of your track infrastructure—from topology to visual context.

This is not just intuitive software—it is a professional-grade tool engineered for realistic railway design.

Key Features of the Track Editor Tool:

  • Real-World Map Integration: Place your track on precise geographic locations using both Bing Maps and OpenRailwayMap layers.
  • Modular Track Building: Select from a range of track modules (single, double, crossings, stations, etc.) to build a bespoke network.
  • Comprehensive Topology Tools: Adjust gradients, elevation, curvature, junctions, tunnels, platforms and more.
  • Realistic Environment Design: Enhance immersion by adding buildings, landscape features, and recognisable landmarks.
  • Live 3D Visual Feedback: Preview modifications instantly with the integrated real-time 3D rendering tool.

Module Editor Tool (MET)

The Module Editor Tool (MET) is a complementary software to the Track Editor Tool (TET), designed for creating precise, reusable track modules that can be integrated into any railway network.

With the MET, you can:

  • Design different module types: including variable length, fixed length, and complex network configurations.
  • Customise technical aspects: such as curvature, gradient, elevation, rail type, catenary systems, and terrain.
  • Incorporate visual elements: including buildings, landmarks, and 3D models.
  • Work with real map layers: using both Bing and OpenRailwayMap for accurate positioning.
  • Preview modules in 3D: and make live adjustments before exporting them to TET.

MET allows instructors and developers to prepare track elements with accuracy and flexibility, ensuring realistic and adaptable simulation environments.

Signal Editor Tool (SET)

Instructor designing a railway simulation scenario using the Scenario Editor Tool on dual monitors, showing signal configuration and 3D preview.

The Signal Editor Tool (SET) is used to create and configure railway signals across your simulation network. It enables instructors and developers to define the logic, placement, and behaviour of signals used in driving exercises.

With the SET, you can:

  • Place signals along the track and set their type, position, and visibility.
  • Define signal logic and behaviour based on train movements and conditions.
  • Connect signals to switches and track segments for realistic interactions.
  • Configure signal states (clear, caution, stop) based on traffic or timed events.
  • Test signal behaviour using preview modes within the R³ simulation environment.

SET ensures full control over the signalling system, allowing for precise replication of real-world infrastructure and safe, logic-based training conditions.
