Appointment of Gauthier Van Damme as new Managing Director of Transurb

As from 1 January 2023, Gauthier Van Damme, current General Manager of Transurb Simulation, will succeed to Yannick Gilis as Managing Director of Transurb SA.

Transurb’s Structure

Transurb SA is composed of 2 Business Units, Transurb Technirail located in Brussels and Transurb Simulation based in Namur.

Transurb Technirail is the historical business unit and had been providing technical assistance in rail and urban mobility projects around the world for almost 50 years.

The Business Unit Transurb Simulation was created 20 years ago to deliver innovative training solutions for all railway professions.

20 years of history with Yannick Gilis

In 2002, Yannick Gilis started his internship in engineering at Transurb, and became the first collaborator to embark on Transurb Simulation’s challenge. Over the years, this business unit knew a steady growth and considerable international success. It stayed on track with its mission; to be a leading global provider of innovative training tools for industries worldwide.

Yannick later on became Managing Director of Transurb SA, which continued to function as a financially stable organisation within the John Cockerill Group, and to act as an experienced partner for its clients, as well as a showcase of good management for its stakeholders.

He has now decided to pass on the torch to Gauthier Van Damme, who had already followed in his footsteps with success as General Manager of Transurb Simulation in 2019.

I am confident that our strategic position in the rail market and the rock-solid foundations of our company built over the years, reinforced with our partnership with John Cockerill, will lead us to our next stage of growth.

Gauthier Van Damme

Bright future ahead

Our company’s journey is reaching a new milestone, with a smooth ride in perspective. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Yannick Gilis, who led Transurb to international success while maintaining the spirit of our once-small company with its core values of integrity, mutual respect, ownership, friendliness, and collaboration.

Transurb’s board of directors also welcomes Thomas Fournier, who is the Chief Executive Officer of CIM, a subsidiary of John Cockerill specialised in the export of railway equipment, the manufacture of automatic couplers and workshop equipment for the maintenance of rolling stock (https://www.cimgroupe.com/en/).

All collaborators of Transurb warmly wish Yannick good luck and a lot of success in his new professional adventures, and heartily welcome Gauthier as the new Managing Director.

A new journey begins for Transurb, and it’s a promising one!
